Well, I didn't have an "in person" brush with velvet, but back in 1988, I'd read that Danny Bonaduce was a DJ at a Philly radio station. This was pre-internet of course, so I had always wondered what had happened to Jeremy Gelbwaks, & why he left the show, because rumours abounded that he'd been killed with those giant plastic "clackers" balls. So I wrote to Danny and I asked him if Jeremy was dead. He sent me back 2 autographed photos, one of him as Danny Partridge, and one of his current head shot, and he wrote, "Joanne, I Killed Jeremy! Danny Bonaduce".
